Friends of the Fremont in Jordan

I thought that I would just drop the word to my fellow friends of the Fremont that I haven't been sold for camels yet, but there are five weeks left. Time will tell. I'm glad that I had a legitimate excuse to miss out on the visit of our friend and colleague, Sherri Padgette. I would hate to feed the fire that is Chris' wrath. I'm sure that you are all missing Rich and Lane, who are both here, enjoying some Nabataean culture and the local cuisine. Stay cool guys, don't change. See you next summer.

The Fabulous Baker Boys

If any of you happened to run into the Baker family at the SAA meetings you may have noticed Katie (sp?) was expecting. Due to my familial link to the Bakers I found out this evening that Shane and Katie now have a little boy. I don't know what they named the baby, but apparently Shane is quite happy to have another boy in the house. Congratulations to Shane and his continued Darwinian success!!

The visit no one cared about

Well, it's that time again. Time for you to feel bad and me to feel good.

Several days ago, OPA was visited by one Sherri Padgette, a sometime employee and member of this organization. Once again, with the exception of Crazy Craig Freeman NONE OF YOU WERE THERE.

I'm too disgusted to talk about it further...

Thought I would join in . . .

I just want to say that I am grateful for this opportunity to add my knowledge that the Five Finger Ridge volume is the bible and I know it contains valuable information to fully come to know the Fremont. Having worked on the volume for several years I was able to gain more insight into the importance of understanding this book. I applaude the Friends of the Fremont in supporting and spreading the value of this treasured volume and hope to add my support to this great effort. Long live RKT!

A sad lunch

Yesterday was a sad day at OPA, not that any of YOU would know anything about it. OPA bid a fond farewell to a Mr. Craig Freeman yesterday, April 20, 2005. I alone was here to partake of a celebratory J-Dawg with our longtime friend, and shook his hand as he left into the wide world to seek his fortune.

Sometimes there's a man, I won't say a hero, cause, what's a hero? Sometimes there's a man. And I'm talkin' about the the Craigster here. Sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that's the Craigster. The Craigster from Orem, UT. Sometimes there's a man, sometimes, there's a man. Well, I lost my train of thought here.

Craig's tenure at OPA was marked by mirth and frivolity. It was a sad day for OPA, a day in which none of you participated in. You are all terrible people, particularly Holly Raymond. Please, spare me your bullcrap excuses of finals. FINALS SCHMINALS! We're talking about a man here. A man who loved professional wrestling. A man who lived in Guatemala with Don Forsyth and Rich Allen. A man who was one of us, a friend, dare I say a hero.

For SHAME!!!!!! boo, BOO, BOO!!! So bow down to her if you want, bow to academia. Bow to the Queen of Slime, the Queen of Filth, the Queen of Putrescence. Boo. Boo. Rubbish. Filth. Slime. Muck. Boo. Boo. Boo.

Place your orders while supplies last

New Olmec Were-baby shirts will go on sale soon, but for all those who want a specific size, let me know and I can get it for you. Each shirt is a comfortable cotton-blend black with vibrant colors and an eerie depiction of the Olmec facination with a baby that was the product of a human father and a jaguar mother. The mother culture lives on! I think I can sell them to you guys for $10 a piece (so I break even), but if anybody else wants one, it will be about $15. Just e-mail me your sizes and I'll make a reservation.

The Big Winner

Congratulations to Ms. Cady Jardine on winning the $100 prize from the our good friends Ira and Mary Lou Fulton for her poster --

"The Northern Edge: Northernmost Distribution of Turquoise in the Prehistoric Southwest"

She beat out some tough competition including a poster about the previously undefined toolstone "Obsdidian."

Full respect!!!

What Arrives in Front of Your Face

Our buddy Mike Searcy has a photography exhibit on display in the Hallway Gallery of the HBLL (that's the second floor, to the right of the periodicals).
Apparently, when Mike was in Guatemala he wanted to see how the Kekchi (sp?) perceived beauty or art. He provided a few people with cameras and set them loose to take photos of the world around them. The results were very interesting and provided a great show.

Drop by and see it, I recommend it. (Mike, if you've got any more to add to this, jump in)

"Creamstyle Corn"

Hey guys. This is my first time on Blogger, I think that I did this right...

Anyway. Chris, thanks for getting the word out the second harvest thing. I'm looking forward to some good reading. I am going to make an archaeology presentation today for a work meeting next week. I love power point. Anyway, if you guys have any cool pictures of rock art or some cool whatevers, send them my way.

I better get back to work.

Holly Raymond in a rage

Yesterday Holly Raymond flew into a rage upon learning she had been left off of the blog. Let's all be nice to her, or mean or whatever.

Mucky Mucks, or no mucky mucks

The question at hand? Do we involve the Mucky-mucks in our forum?
Granted, there is a social element to FremontFarmers, but I do believe that there should be honest academic discourse regarding the Fremont.

WWJD? Posted by Hello

I invite you to weigh in.

Sean needs help! Second Harvest Reference

Well, it finally happened. Joel's lies may have finally caught up us.

He once explained to a few of us the ethnographic practice of the "Second Harvest" wherein people would pick undigested seeds out of their own feces and eat them.

Now Sean's coworkers do not believe him. We need a reference! OPA alumni unite!

Thanks for the support

You guys (tear) have been the best! I think my wife had to change her pants when I told her about OU, I know it took a big weight off my shoulders. Anyway, I owe many of you a big ol' J-Dawg for your help. Props. The SoCo lives on.

Who else should be on the team?

In order to publish posts, you have to be an invited team member. So far I've invited:

Cady Jardine
Scott Ure
Mike Searcy
Craig Freman
Aaron Woods

I'd also like to invite Sean and Erika, though their emails escape me. If anyone has them, post them in a comment or email them to me. Holly has been left off the list intentionally, as I didn't think it would interest her as our blog will be primarily concerned with New World archaeology.

Are we all getting fired?

Weigh in with your picks. I think that after Jordan all of us except for Scott will be gone. Some of us may be trimmed at the end of the semester.

Michael Searcy is the man

After much deliberation, our own Michael Searcy has been accepted to OU! You deserve it dude, that thesis was the deal-breaker I'm sure. Now we'll have a friend in the Paquime business.

What the H?

Well, it's official... I'm blog crazy. I think this is a great idea though. Not only can OPA alumni stay in touch, we can also discuss the Fremont in all kinds of detail! Please join in!
