The Ballad of Peter and Molly
Our good friend Molly recently contacted me asking whether I thought she might be able to sell her story to HaleStorm entertainment. Would you watch a film about Peter and Molly?
I would watch it. That no-account brother of hers hasn't updated his blog in ages.
My only fear is that it would deter many people interested in the church. This conculsion is hypothetically illustated in my one act morality play below:
Investigator #1: "Man did you see that movie about that mormon chick?"
Investigatior #2: "eww...yeah, is that was they're really like?"
I#1: "I dunno man, but if so, I don't want anything to do with that church"
Good point. There would have to be a "lesson learned" of some kind, or maybe Molly would need a group normal friends or co-workers who learned to accept her for her zeal etc.
I would definitely watch the movie. Aaron has a good point though, people probably would come off with the wrong idea about church members... perhaps you could have some kind of a disclaimer at the beginning of the movie as you would want to keep the funny...
I would watch one if Chris had creative control of what went into the movie, so as satire could be done right. As to the keeping nonmembers from seeing the church in a good light....do you really think any nonmembers would see the show? None that I want to be friends with. Word.
