Thesis Feedback

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who has given me feedback on my thesis and the truncated versions I have circulated. If anyone else would like a pdf of my condensed (35 page) thesis, please email me (watkins.chris@gmail.com). Maybe I should send it to Mike for online posting...

I decided to email a couple of people who I thought would be interested in my thesis (Alan Reed of Alpine Archaeology and Margaret Lyneis, formerly of UNLV) to let them know that it had been posted online. I have gotten some good initial feedback with promises of more.

I was a little anxious about shopping my thesis around, and I thought that I would share that I had a good experience. I think we should take advantage of the online nature of our theses and alert people who we think may be interested. It seems to be working for me thus far.

I think that's great. I shot an email off to Lisa Young (a large premise of my thesis is based off of one of her models) who said she was excited to look at it. That was two or three weeks ago though, so maybe she thought it was crap. But a more likely scenario is that after reading it she tried to make out with the computer screen because of how awesome my thesis was and was sadly electrocuted. One more tale of computer/research danger. The more you know…٭

Hey, what did Lyneis have to say? I just saw her at the Nevada Archaeological Association Annual conference on Saturday. She's pretty cool. Very approachable.

The more you know... is this an Adam Carolla reference?

Lyneis hasn't read the thesis yet, but she wondered if I was in touch with our newest member Jason, who apparently has some PV clay that Margaret is excited about.

"The more you know"

I'm pretty sure its a reference to the PSA campagin that NBC does. Celebrities tell us about how drugs are bad, and then a little jingle plays.

side note, my favorite Adam Carolla quote: "perfectly normal, perfectly healthy" (referring to something that is so abnormal and unhealthy). I suppose that making out with a computer is perfectly normal, perfectly healthy.
